What’s new on T.O.R.C.H.
The “Digital Divide” is arguably the single largest
segregating force in today’s world. The disparity in
access, knowledge and understanding of the digital capabilities
that are revolutionizing the world has the dire potential
to create a generation of children and families ill-equipped
to fully function in the new Information Age.
NSBE’s mission is to increase the number of culturally
responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed
professionally, and positively impact the community. As NSBE
Junior, collegiate, and alumni members, we generally are not
victims of the Digital Divide. We have grown up using computers
and information technology in our education, our personal
lives, and simple day-to-day activities. It would be culturally
irresponsible for us to have this knowledge and not share
it with those in our community who do not. It further goes
directly to our mission that we do what we can to positively
impact the community.
